Accounts Payable & Payroll Accountant

Join a nationally based company as an Accounts Payable & Payroll Accountant! In this full-time role, you will work out of our client’s Dover, NH headquarters and support the accounting department by performing data entry and reconciliation related to accounts payable. In addition, you will process multi-state payroll for 300+ employees. The ideal Accounts Payable & Payroll Accountant has experience with Sage and some exposure to manufacturing with an understanding of cost accounting concepts.

Responsibilities of the Accounts Payable & Payroll Accountant

  • Process all payables including check and purchasing card payables, bank drafts and weekly check runs in a timely manner
  • Enter credit memos, discounts, void checks as appropriate
  • Facilitate all activities within Sage system (invoice entry, check run, process for purchase card expenses, etc.)
  • Review and reconcile invoice discrepancies
  • Maintain vendor accounts and files including vendor information, W-9, etc.
  • Maintain all accounts payable records including timely filing of backup documentation
  • Respond to vendor inquiries
  • Process multi-state payroll for 300+ employees
  • Prepare 1099s and assist with annual independent audit and other projects as assigned
  • Prepare journal entries as assigned
  • Complete monthly reconciliation of all credit card accounts
  • Effectively communicate all payable related discrepancies or problems to Accounting Manager
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications of the Accounts Payable & Payroll Accountant

  • 2 years accounts payable related experience or 3 years accounting related experience
  • Understanding of generally accepted accounting practices and all related legislation and regulations
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload to meet deadlines
  • Ability to handle confidential information
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and verbal/written communication skills
  • Must be flexible and able to work independently and/or as part of a team
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel user
  • Previous experience in the construction industry a plus
  • Experience with Sage 100 strongly preferred
