Leddy Group is recruiting a Controls Engineer for a client in Amesbury, MA.

The right person will be organized, energetic with a proven track record of solving complex automation applications firsthand. The individual in this role has the opportunity to be the “face of automation” for the business and support the applications, sales, and project management teams at customer sites, etc.

Responsibilities of the Controls Engineer:

Design, specification, implementation, commissioning, trouble-shooting, and continuous improvement of automation and instrumentation for food and beverage and biopharmaceutical production facilities.

  • Documentation of process sequence of operations
  • Electrical and control panel design
  • Specification of automation hardware and software
  • Development of design documents
  • Programming to include but not limited to PLC’s, HMI’s, motion including complex multi-axis servo systems, robotics with line tracking and vision systems both stand-alone and integrated with a robotic system.
  • Project Management, scheduling, resource management & customer correspondence
  • Operational support
  • Control system troubleshooting support

Duties

  • Act as subject matter expert for automation group when it comes to the robot to PLC integration
  • Develop and institute standard programming practices (PLC, HMI, Robot) based on industry standards
  • Mentor the automation engineering team in the use of industry-standard methods and best practices
  • Support the automation aspects of new product development
  • Support applications team from an automation point of view with respect to viability and functionality

Skills and Experience of the Controls Engineer:

To qualify for this positions candidates must have the following skills and experience

  • Electrical and control panel design
  • Specification of automation hardware and software and Project Management
  • Programming to include but not limited to PLC’s, HMI’s, motion including complex multi-axis servo systems, robotics with line tracking and vision systems both stand-alone and integrated with a robotic system.
  • TRAVEL required upon installation/commissioning may include 30% travel
