Our client is seeking a Field Service Engineer to provide customer support in the electrical installation, commissioning, upgrading, and maintenance of their equipment. An international team on site and in the back offices around the globe will support you and train you. This exciting direct hire opportunity involves both domestic and international travel 75% of the time.

Responsibilities of the Field Service Engineer – Electrical

  • Supervise subcontractors on site and perform electrical installation of equipment
  • Manage electrical commissioning of equipment
  • Design and implement work scheduled (e.g., cable pulling lists, cable connection lists, commissioning daily tasks) for customer and contractors
  • Assess work for quality
  • Debug software, program PLCs, and set up drive systems
  • Perform electrical upgrades/retrofit existing equipment
  • Train maintenance personnel of customers
  • Be available for on-call service outside of normal business hours and for handling electrical service requests
  • Travel as required to meet customers’ scheduling needs
  • Provide internal sales support

Qualifications of the Field Service Engineer – Electrical

  • College degree in electrical/electronic engineering, instrumentation and control engineering, or similar field preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in a related field
  • IT skills and good knowledge of automation systems
  • Skills in PLC programming and electrical drive systems
  • Experience with machinery equipment in plastics industry is preferred
  • Basic knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics is preferred
  • Team player with solution-oriented and responsible way of working
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Willingness to travel abroad for longer time periods (up to 2 months) and travel in the U.S.
