Glue Roll Operator

Specialized company in Rutland, VT operating on a national scale, is seeking a Glue Roll Operator for this direct hire role. This facility manufactures foils, metals, films, and graphics. In this role, you will perform a variety of film embossing, machine setups, and operations to imprint designs onto various films among a variety of other duties.

Responsibilities of the Glue Roll Operator:

  • Set up and operate Mixing Meter, glue roll and press. Layup and press panels according to customer specifications.
  • Adjust machine components to accurately/correctly regulate spread rates, pressure rates, resin and veneer flows.
  • Watch gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure machines are working properly.
  • Monitor machine operations and observe lights and gauges to detect malfunctions
  • Feed plies into glue roll and layup by hand. Manually load panel into press. Offload panel by hand or move onto conveyor.
  • Examine and measure panels to verify conformance to standards, using measuring devices such as templates, micrometers and calipers to 1000th inch, or tape measures, in both metric and standard measure.
  • Cross train in other departments when necessary
  • Ensure machines are routinely maintained; that specific products material stocks are available and ready for production runs
  • Review work orders, specifications, or instructions to determine layup patterns and pressing procedures, settings, and adjustments for building a panel.
  • Clear jams, and remove defective or substandard materials using appropriate safety protocols, including Lock Out/Tag Out.
  • Record production run quantities, job orders, product and materials used, and machinery downtimes
  • Participate in inventory control, data entry, and other operations
  • Transport processed materials to storage or holding areas
  • Maintain established quality and quaintly standards
  • Follow prescribed safety precautions, department and company policies, procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Maintain work area and equipment in a clean, orderly, operational, and safe condition by confirming area to 5S standards

Qualifications of the Glue Roll Operator:

  • Use of shop arithmetic, including decimals and fractions; simple use of charts, tables, specifications, schedules, computer-programmed controllers
  • Use of adjustable measuring instruments requiring knowledge in machine and equipment operations
  • 2+ years of machine operator experience.
  • Use of judgment within the limits of reorganized or standard methods or procedures
