Health, Safety, and Environmental Manager

An advanced technology manufacturer in Portsmouth, NH is seeking a Health, Safety, and Environmental Manager. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated and proactive individual with a can-do attitude towards HSE. Responsibilities of the Health, Safety, and Environmental Manager

  • Ensure the health and safety management system is suitable, effective, and aligned with the needs of the business
  • Engage with production, engineering, facilities, and project teams to understand and practically support their operational and business health and safety requirements
  • Develop and review the HSE policies, procedures, and guidance, ensuring they are current and in line with accreditations and regulatory requirements
  • Oversee ISO 45001 and ISO 45001 Management Systems and Certification Body audit schedule
  • Oversee the HSE Team and Pollution Prevention Team, and facilitate Risk Action Groups
  • Manage and lead legal/regulatory audits and ensure they are effectively logged and documented for legal compliance
  • Oversee the management of accidents, incidents, job hazard analysis, audits, and inspections, and support managers in addressing any issues
  • Support management in the implementation and effective communication of HSE to all employees, including safety moments, briefings, safety training, etc.
  • Oversee the management of hazardous waste in compliance with NH Dept. of Environmental Services regulations
  • Gather information and generate reports
  • Assist in SDS software documentation
  • Oversee the development, implementation, and testing of emergency preparedness and response arrangements
  • Lead by example and demonstrate a positive attitude toward HSE and cultural improvement initiative
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications of the Health, Safety, and Environmental Manager

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field; minimum 5 years working in a large complex, higher risk organization (10-15 years preferred); or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Business-focused and pragmatic approach to health and safety
  • Ability to lead and influence at all levels
  • Excellent presentation and report writing skills
  • Attention to detail and compliance is imperative
  • Basic knowledge of ISO and/or AS9100
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing/6 Sigma/Kaizen
  • Computer proficient with knowledge of specific software (i.e., design, analysis, ERP)

Annual salary for this Health, Safety, and Environmental Manager position depends on experience, starting at $90,000-$100,000. Apply today to work at this fast-growing company!
