HR Benefits/Compliance Specialist
Our client in Barrington, NH is seeking an interim HR Benefits/Compliance Specialist for a 6-month position. This is a hybrid in-office/work-at-home opportunity and will flex your benefits knowledge and communication skills. Experience in self-insured benefits plans would be a major plus!
Responsibilities of the HR Benefits/Compliance Specialist
- Resolve employee questions and problems by interpreting benefit policies and procedures
- Manage employee retirement plan by working with a third-party administrator
- Support management decision making by analyzing benefit options and predicting future costs
- Identify benefit options by studying programs and obtaining advice from consultants
- Expedite delivery of benefits by scheduling and assigning employees
- Reconcile benefits accounts by approving billing statements
- Coordinate and maintain relationships with outside carriers, brokers and vendors
- Oversee the administration and use of payroll and related technologies
- Support and train personnel staff on a variety of benefit and other programs to enhance overall effectiveness of team
- Learn, understand, and comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations
- Perform other duties as necessary.
Qualifications of the HR Benefits/Compliance Specialist
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Management, Business Administration or a related field
- Five or more years’ experience in a personnel office setting, preferably in a multi-shift manufacturing environment
- Familiarity with self-insured plans, HIPAA compliance, and labor legislation
- Ability to use critical thinking to effectively solve personnel challenges and issues
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and organization skills
- Proficient in MS Office Suite to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Experience with HRIS (ADP preferred), applicant tracking systems and other online tools
- HR Generalist experience helpful
