Human Resource Generalist

If you are a Human Resource Generalist and looking for an interim position, we have one for you! Our client has an immediate need for someone to fill in from mid-December to mid-January in an educational environment in Exeter, NH. Responsibilities would be to lead the recruitment and hiring efforts, administer and oversee benefits, and more!

Responsibilities of the Human Resource Generalist:

  • Administer a comprehensive human resources program for the purpose of maintaining a well-qualified, diverse, anti-biased employee workforce with adequate staffing
  • Lead the recruitment and hiring of a diverse workforce at all levels of the organization including substitute teachers, develop recruitment materials, arrange and direct annual teacher and paraprofessional job fairs, and plan other recruitment functions
  • Design and direct the hiring process for all certificated and/or classified district employees, in cooperation with the administrators/supervisors for the purpose of assuring consistency in the district and ensuring compliance with state and federal law and contractual provisions (i.e. alternative certification process, endorsement, standard certification requirements)
  • Understand and manage a comprehensive benefits program while supervising a full time Benefits Coordinator
  • Oversee and assist employees with ADA/FMLA needs while supervising a full time HR Coordinator
  • Develop and implement goal areas as defined by the SAU Strategic Plan
  • Maintain and organize the process for tracking notification and receipt of evaluation/probation paperwork, works with appropriate personnel in the development/revision of evaluation procedures and related forms
  • Monitor human resource activities of administrators and managers for the purpose of assuring compliance with district’s human resources policies and procedures, collective bargaining agreements, and local, state, and federal laws and regulations
  • Provide training to District administration to ensure best practices in Human Resources leadership operations and management
  • Supervise the preparation and/or complete in an accurate and timely manner state and federal reports for the purpose of compliance
  • Oversee, supervise, and be accountable for management aspects of the Human Resources department including the evaluation of Human Resources staff
  • Any other tasks that relate to creating and maintaining an environment that values all human narratives and employs an anti-biased workforce that actively promotes equitable practices for all members of the SAU community

Qualifications of the Human Resource Generalist:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, human resource administration, organizational leadership, or other related field; or earned Master’s in business or human resources preferred; or, PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SPC certification preferred, or equivalent combination of years and education considered
  • Minimum of five (5) years of graduated job responsibilities in a school district human resource office including supervisory experience
  • Successful NH State Police criminal records check and FBI Fingerprint Clearance Report and Disclosure Statement in accordance with state law
  • Experience with contract management, contract negotiations, and contract interpretation including establishing positive relationships with labor groups required
  • Knowledge of and experience with applicable laws, regulations, and emerging practices pertaining to assigned responsibilities, including current issues and trends in education and human resource activities
  • Knowledge of State of New Hampshire and federal regulations and policies regarding personnel matters and employment, civil rights, and Title IX
  • Skills and ability in organization, time management, task prioritization, and recordkeeping
  • Exemplary skills in written and oral language with the ability to communicate respectfully, clearly and concisely by telephone, in person, and in written form
  • Skills demonstrating a high level of empathy, integrity, commitment, and work ethic
  • Ability to make effective presentations, produce high quality reports, draft policies and procedures, and product publications
  • Ability to apply diplomatic techniques in all district-related matters and maintain strict confidentiality in sensitive matters
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize complex data
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, administration, and community in a variety of roles and positions
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member and as a senior leadership team member
  • Ability to remain calm, flexible, and work effectively under pressure
  • Ability to use technology to advance productivity and efficiency in order to fulfill job functions
