Responsibilities of the Insurance Claims Representative

  • Submit insurance claims per regulations and policies
  • Follow up on rejected claims, adjustments, rebilling, corrected claims, appeals, etc.
  • Identify claim denials for payer trends and report them to supervisor
  • Answer phone calls from both patients and insurance companies to resolve billing issues
  • Respond to attorney’s requests for medical records and bills
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality, ethical, and professional standards
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications of the Insurance Claims Representative

  • Prior billing and AR-related experience preferred; will also consider candidates with strong customer service skills/experience
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills required
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Proven analytical and decision-making skills
  • Strong computer skills including MS Word and Excel
  • Working knowledge of Docutap or other practice management software
