Maintenance & Facilities Supervisor

This is a leadership role where you will be overseeing three shifts (1st and 2nd and weekends) of employees who are highly skilled and lending a hand whenever you can.

The Maintenance & Facilities Supervisor is responsible for machinery maintenance in a manufacturing environment.  The position interfaces with other areas of management within the company.  Primary responsibility is ensuring the smooth function of all machinery within the production area and upholding all documentation on completed work.

Key Responsibilties of Maintenance & Facilities Supervisor:

  • Ensure all maintenance work orders are followed through to a completed status with the goal of 100% equipment uptime
  • Responsible for maintaining a safe work environment and a high level of safety awareness among associates
  • Maintain an inventory management system for all required maintenance and facilities items.
  • Maintain excellent housekeeping practices through 5S implementation with appropriate audits
  • Work closely and build rapport with personnel across a variety of departments and functions within the facility with specific focus given to alignment with manufacturing and engineering functions.
  • Listen to, support, engage and encourage employee suggestions and input to achieve excellent results
  • Mentor direct reports to improve their leadership skill sets and overall effectiveness, assist and support other team members as required
  • Provide the training and guidance necessary to enable the employees to improve their own abilities and skill levels
  • Document standard work/SOPs and provide continuous feedback to team members to assure all are adhering to procedures and striving for continuous improvement and alignment with the objectives
  • Work to maintain the maintenance of SOP’s and ISO 13485 standards
  • Responsible for maintaining proper staffing levels, scheduling and organizing work assignments within the company policies and procedures
  • Maintain associates files in the areas of attendance, productivity, and quality and provide regular reviews and counseling where required

  • Lead day-to-day activities to ensure swift and accurate completion of maintenance requests
  • Maintain positive employee relations through the use of proficient and open communication skills
  • Coach, guide and manage employee relation concerns and semi-annual PMD processes to deliver optimal business results
  • Act as lead on Plant Shutdown events
  • Manage calibration of equipment and tools in accordance to ISO 13485 standards
  • Flexibility for cross-training company-wide

Qualifications of Materials & Facilities Supervisor:

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution. Trade certification or college degree a plus
  • High degree of accuracy and decision-making ability
  • Flexibility for training and covering all shifts
  • Read, write and understand English
  • Basic math and data entry skills
  • Able to stand, bend, stoop, kneel and carry
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Possesses extreme motivation for a continuous improvement mindset and desire to improve the business; Six Sigma Green Belt Certification strongly preferred
  • Knowledgeable in data collection, measuring, analysis, improvement and control
  • Ability to conduct critical analysis and assessments to develop strategic action plans that ensure efficient, lean, and effective processes are in place
  • Ability to lead and deliver results in a team based environment and make fact based decisions with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrate strong business acumen, organizational and analytical skills
  • Effective employee management skills including dealing with difficult employee situations and providing constructive feedback. Ability to coach, counsel and encourage subordinates
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Good computer skills (Microsoft Office, database and internet based programs) Maintenance software (CMMS) a plus.

  • Ability to read and analyze schematics and blue prints.
  • ISO 9000, ISO13485, FDA experience is preferred
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Knowledge, training, and/or experience in Lean Manufacturing
  • Experienced in successfully driving Continuous Improvement
  • Experienced in OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness)
  • Experienced in TPM (Total Productive Maintenance)

Non-Negotiable Hiring Criteria:

  • Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated leadership skills
  • Solid computer skills (Microsoft Office, database and internet based programs); JD Edwards (Oracle) and SAP a plus
  • Experienced in OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness)
  • Experienced in TPM (Total Productive Maintenance)

This is a salaried position working primarily 1st shift hours but always on call to help with serious issues.  Salary plus great benefits package is offered and salary range depends on experience but is a the top of the range for this position.
