Join a successful organization as a Manufacturing Engineer! In this direct-hire role, you’ll work on a variety of tasks to design, integrate, and improve production processes, products, and documentation with a focus on continuous improvement. The ideal candidate is a strong multitasker with the flexibility to shift priorities in this dynamic work environment.
Responsibilities of the Manufacturing Engineer
- Design products to optimize assembly, test, and manufacturability while adhering to company guidelines for applicable industry standards
- Work with Engineering and Production to introduce new procedures and processes into production; train production personnel on product assembly
- Interface with Sales and Marketing on new and existing designs and to supply system brochure and literature materials (i.e., CAD drawings)
- Prepare documents including BOMs, prototype assembly drawings, wire diagrams, and production prints
- Participate in design reviews and engineering meetings
- Develop and maintain design and prototype schedules
- Interface with vendors throughout the design and prototype phase
- Evaluate requests for quotes, new products, and design changes
- Recommend corrective or preventive actions to ensure or improve product quality, system throughput, and/or reduce product costs
- Work closely with purchasing, vendors, and QC to ensure accurate parts and schedules
- Assist with maintenance and implementation of production test jigs and related equipment
- Help troubleshoot, diagnose, and report quality and non-functional product issues
- Perform other duties as required or assigned
Qualifications of the Manufacturing Engineer
- BS Degree in Engineering discipline and 3+ years of related experience; any suitable combination of education and experience will be considered
- CAD Mechanical design, tolerances
- Experience with manufacturing techniques, electronic production processes
- Lean manufacturing knowledge/experience a plus
- Strong decision-making, problem-solving, creative thinking, organizational, and time management skills
- Commitment to quality and on-time delivery is essential
- Excellent written and verbal communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, SolidWorks; familiarity with ERP systems
- Design for manufacturability skills and knowledge are highly desired
- Skilled in use of hand and machine tools (soldering experience a plus)
- Experience setting up and operating CNC and/or manual machinery (routers, lathes, milling machines, etc.)
- Ability to design for and operate 3D printers
- Familiarity with high-volume production processes and testing methodologies a plus
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
