Responsibilities of the Manufacturing Engineering Internship

  • Perform time and motion studies, analyze work content, and update standards
  • Help modify Labor Balance Charts and Assembly Build Playbooks to support product flow in manufacturing
  • Develop facility layout drawings to support product flow in Manufacturing with reduced travel distance
  • Learn how to 3D model using Solid Edge and support improvement projects by developing 3D modeled variants of the current product configuration
  • Gather data that can be used in solving manufacturing issues
  • Conduct tests and propose improvements to the overall process flow based on Lean Manufacturing principles
  • Create and update documentation for manufacturing standard work
  • Evaluate ergonomics and safety within manufacturing operations
  • Conduct problem solving to identify continuous improvement opportunities
  • Complete projects and analyses as assigned

Qualifications of the Manufacturing Engineering Internship

  • Bachelor’s degree in progress (Sophomore or Junior) in Engineering
  • Ability to perform assigned tasks and complete work on schedule with minimal supervision
  • Eagerness to learn and accept challenges
  • Able to handle multiple tasks
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be flexible, motivated, dedicated, and detail-focused
  • Working knowledge of computer programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • General knowledge of manufacturing methods and metal part fabrication
