Molding Machine Operator

A plastics company is seeking a Molding Machine Operator for their newly expanded Pelham, NH facility. Companies around the world depend on their custom medical devices and components. This is a great opportunity to help produce quality products that save lives!

Responsibilities of the Molding Machine Operator

  • Operate injection molding machinery for the routine manufacture of plastic components in accordance with written and verbal work instructions, manufacturing procedures, and drawings in blueprints.
  • Perform in-process inspection of all components for defect awareness
  • Use hand tools, razor blades, fixtures, and magnifiers to perform trimming operations
  • Perform routine tasks such as de-gating and trimming excess material from molded components to ensure they are free from flash
  • Perform leak testing of molded components
  • Use measurement devices such as Vernier calipers, micrometers, and scales to ensure products meet specifications according to customer drawings
  • Enter data including component quantities, scrap quantities, defect codes, and other required information into the company’s ERP system with the use of a computer, keyboard, mouse, and barcode scanner
  • Adhere to good documentation practices and complete manufacturing documentation as required (i.e., job travelers, run sheets, hourly data, communication board, etc.)
  • Ensure work station is in clean and orderly condition and meets the company’s standards for cleanliness, safety, and line clearance
  • Maintain compliance with Quality Management System procedures and guidelines
  • Notify group leader or supervisor of any issues with molding operations and equipment or safety-related issues
  • Communicate within the department to group leaders, technicians, and engineers when problems arise
  • Perform other duties as assigned, which may include cleaning, vacuuming, and trash disposal

Qualifications of the Molding Machine Operator

  • 0-2 years of related experience in the operation of molding equipment
  • Ability to learn to read drawings in blueprints
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend the English language and follow written and verbal work instructions
  • Must follow good documentation and manufacturing practices
  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment
  • Basic computer skills (keyboard and mouse) are required
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to learn to use a microscope and/or magnified ring light as well as measurement devices (Vernier calipers, micrometers, pin gauges, etc.)
  • Good fine motor skills and mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
