Weld Project Engineer

A leading contract manufacturer is seeking a Weld Project Engineer to join their team in Manchester, NH. In this role, you’ll oversee weld engineering projects for this company’s specialized equipment for the defense, medical, semiconductor, and industrial markets. This is a great direct-hire opportunity at a family-owned company that has been in business over 80 years!

Responsibilities of the Weld Project Engineer

  • Manage customer contracts, including review of contract and quality requirements; maintenance of customer drawing files; coordination of contract modifications; implementation of engineering releases, change requests, and change orders; and identification of purchase requirements
  • Develop manufacturing plans including bill of materials, routing, and work instructions
  • Coordinate with corporate purchasing department to ensure timely procurement of material requirements
  • Create shop drawings as required
  • Develop weld procedures, NDT plans, and OQE that meet customer requirements
  • Write procedures for the qualification and certification of weld operators
  • Train welders and inspectors in the relevant control procedures
  • Develop tools, fixtures, and test equipment required for manufacturing
  • Provide written input to proposals, reports, and test data to customers
  • Develop cost estimates in support of proposal activity
  • Prepare status reports
  • Interact effectively with vendors and customers
  • Demonstrate responsibility and accountability for creating a professional, safe, and clean environment
  • Establish effective relationships and networks with both managers/directors and workers, and work collaboratively to accomplish shared purposes and goals
  • Abide by GSM Code of Ethics and Business Conduct standards and observe all U.S. and foreign laws and regulations

Qualifications of the Weld Project Engineer

  • 3-5 years of project management experience
  • 3 years of experience in defense/aerospace-related fabrication and welding environment
  • BS in Mechanical, Quality, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering discipline or equivalent experience; Master’s degree a plus
  • Experience with manufacturing processes to include: CNC machining, painting, fabrication techniques, and weld processes in a heavily regulated environment such as DOD or Aerospace
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite
  • Demonstrated proficiency in AutoCAD or equivalent CAD/CAM software
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance
  • Professional engineer a plus
  • Experience as a welder a plus
  • Experience specifying and evaluating NDT procedures a plus
