Success Story

Miller

When professionals are seeking the next step in their career, working with a staffing agency like Leddy Group can be advantageous. So it was for Miller, who had over six years of engineering experience in the manufacturing industry. He was mostly happy at his previous role, but not “over the moon,” as he explains it. Then he was connected with Kendra Palmer, Sr. Staffing Manager in the Engineering division of Leddy Group, who helped him find a new job he loves!

“This was my first experience with a staffing agency,” admits Miller. “It was awesome, and it really cut down on the all the work that you have to do when searching for a job on your own. Kendra reached out with an exciting opportunity right nearby, and she was very supportive and helpful throughout the whole process.” Miller was drawn to a manufacturing engineer role at an advanced technology company located in New Hampshire’s Seacoast, just 20 minutes from his home.

Kendra and Miller met to discuss his work experiences and career goals. “Miller was engaged and upbeat,” Kendra says. “He was interested in the job from the beginning. He answered questions about his work experience with humility, and easily shared the outcomes. He believed in himself and trusted our process. He also shared his Green Belt project with me, enhancing my confidence in his lean tools, and was conscientious in answering my many onboarding questions without hesitation and right on time.”

With his innate confidence and Kendra’s assistance, Miller successfully interviewed for and accepted the new role in June 2024. His responsibilities focus on cable assembly for submarine electrical components. “It’s been cool to learn about not only what I’m working on, but also the end product,” he says. “I’m able to see how important our work is, and how it is directly affecting the lives of these people who are in the submarines, as well as how important good quality is.”

He jumped right in to the challenges of the position, sharing, “I was learning the product, learning a new ERP system, experiencing how the company flows and how parts flow through the shop floor.” Miller admits that, at first, “It was definitely a little overwhelming. There’s a steep learning curve, and it’s a process I had never worked with before. But everyone around me has been super helpful and understanding, and willing to take time and help me learn. Also, I have been able to apply a lot of my general engineering skills and practices, which have gone a long way, and maybe I didn’t realize were such important assets that I had. It’s been great so far.”

His favorite part of his new position? “I’m a lot more hands-on in my current role, not only with the operators on the floor, but with the product itself. I’m getting to touch and work on stuff, and work directly with the people on the shop floor.” The role offers him the technical challenge he was seeking. Miller is also impressed with the culture at his new employer. “My previous employer wasn’t as progressive. Here, all of the operators that I’ve been working with on the shop floor are very open to new ideas and trying new things.”

When asked if he would recommend Leddy Group to others searching for a new job, Miller says, “Absolutely, it’s been a great experience,” he shares. “I couldn’t recommend them more. Leddy Group and Kendra have been great.”
